Our Story
African Golf Tours exists because we believed something was missing from the way golf travel in Africa was being offered.
Too often, tours orbit the same high-profile courses - glamorous, heavily commercialised, and increasingly detached from the landscapes that once made them special. We wanted to step away from that model.
Our focus is on the courses found deeper in South Africa’s wild spaces. Courses that may not always dominate headlines, but remain truly world-class in design, condition, and setting. More importantly, they are courses that are genuinely enjoyable to play, where the experience is as rewarding as the scenery. Places where golf is still shaped by the land around it, not the other way around.
These journeys are about introducing our guests to parts of South Africa that genuinely take your breath away, where exceptional golf is played alongside outstanding wildlife, open horizons, and a sense of quiet scale that cannot be manufactured.

Our tours are intentionally small, allowing for a level of hosting and personal care that simply isn’t possible at scale. Days are paced to feel unforced. Rounds are played properly and time is left open for the moments that can’t be scheduled - a sighting on the drive back to the lodge, a conversation over dinner that runs long than your tee shot, the quiet after a late morning tee time.

Andre Basson is a highly respected golf professional and experienced safari host, with a career spanning elite coaching, course management, and luxury nature travel.
He has worked across some of South Africa’s finest golf estates and private game reserves, bringing over a decade of hands-on experience guiding guests through the country’s most iconic wilderness areas.
Andre’s rare strength lies in his dual expertise. His deep understanding of both championship golf and the African bush allows him to curate journeys where the game and the landscape meet seamlessly, without compromise to either.
Josh Basson
Co-Founder | Marketing Director & Golf Lover
Josh Basson is a marketing and communications specialist with extensive experience delivering high-profile, large-scale events across Africa.
Having led the organisation and promotion of major international conferences, Josh oversees brand, communications, and end-to-end guest experience. His role ensures each tour is thoughtfully structured, professionally delivered, and aligned with the standards expected by international travellers.
Together, Andre and Josh combine deep local knowledge with global-level professionalism to create journeys that are as well hosted as they are memorable.
